Donald S. Hornblower

Donald S. Hornblower is a partner of the firm. Don majored in Philosophy and English in college and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Boston College in 1982. After working in the counseling/ social service field and in alternative sentencing programs, he attended the University Of Maine School Of Law, where he received a Juris Doctor degree in 1991.While Don was in law school, he worked for Sentencing Options, a program that was designed to recommend alternative sentences (sentences that were alternatives to jail and prison terms) to courts in Maine. Don was admitted to practice law in Maine in 1991, and began his legal practice in courts in the Androscoggin, Franklin, Oxford and Cumberland counties. In that same year he was also admitted to the Massachusetts Bar and the United States District Court for Maine. Over the past 21 years, Don has represented clients in criminal, family, divorce, child protective, protection from abuse, civil, and personal injury cases. Within his criminal practice, Don has represented clients in cases ranging from juvenile offenses to misdemeanors such as Assault, Theft, OUI, OAS, to serious felonies, such as Drug Trafficking, Aggravated Assault, and Operating after Habitual Offender, Robbery, Burglary, and Murder. With clients accused of an administrative and criminal OUI charge, Don will vigorously investigate and prepare a defense for every case. He will represent his client in each stage of every proceeding, from administrative hearings at the Department of Motor Vehicles to motion hearings and trials at the court. Don is presently serving as the Defense Attorney Liaison for the Androscoggin County Drug Court, a program designed to closely monitor, treat, and evaluate eligible offenders who have committed crimes as a consequence of serious addictions to drugs and/or alcohol. At the same time, Don also serves as a committee member on the Maine Alliance of Drug Treatment Courts.Don is a member of the Maine Bar Association, the Maine Association of Criminal Defense lawyers, the Androscoggin County Bar Association, and the Maine Trial Lawyers Association. He is a past committee member of New Beginnings, a program advocating for and serving the needs of local disadvantaged teenage youth. Don resides in Portland, Maine with his wife, Amy, two children, and dog, Manny, named in honor of former Red Sox icon Manny Ramirez.
